Samiti Satsang

Satsang is a Sanskrit term which refers to holy company. When two or more people gather together for spiritual practice, there is great benefit both individually and collectively. There are many ancient Vedic chants that extoll satsang, assembling together for meditation and singing the glories of the Divine.

Satsang is held on selected Saturdays during the year for our members. The three to four hours we spend together include opportunities for chanting, singing, contemplation and meditation, storytelling, spiritual dance, and sharing of offered food.

One of the primary tenets of Vedanta is Unity in Diversity. Our members and friends draw from diverse spiritual traditions, personal experiences, cultural backgrounds, the creative arts, as well as academic disciplines. We are young and old, multi-ethnic, married, single, students, career women, mothers and grandmothers, and retired women. Thus, we become a source of inspiration for one another.

Satsang Dates:

Lunar Calendar

Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Vedic and Eastern spiritual traditions follow the lunar calendar because it mirrors celestial movements and the rhythms of nature, shaping spiritual practices and rituals in alignment with cosmic energies. Many auspicious events, celebrations, and holy birthdays are based on lunar phases, which are believed to influence energy and consciousness in profound ways. The Lunar calendar ensures festivals occur on spiritually significant days rather than fixed solar dates, maintaining harmony with cosmic cycles. Traditional scriptures and astrological calculations in these traditions emphasize the moon’s role in marking divine moments, enhancing the spiritual essence of these occasions.
